The Marion County School Board voted to approve a $671,917 compensation amendment to the construction manager's guaranteed maximum price for work at South Marion High School. According to Mr. White house and project manager Donnie Tucker, crews discovered unforeseen subsurface voids that require investigation, remediation, site restoration and repair of the athletic field.
Mr. Tucker said the contractor has already begun work and that the field restoration timeline is important to preserve the fall athletics schedule; staff expect substantial completion on or before Oct. 29, 2026. Board member disclosed recusals as required; the vote recorded four in favor and one recusal.
