Council introduces amendment to subdivision rules, reduces lot-size threshold to 6,500 sq ft

On June 2 the St. Bernard Parish Council introduced Summary No. 4360 to amend Appendix A — Subdivision Regulations; specifically Section 2.7 addressing subdivision of 'lot next door' properties. The council amended the proposed language to change a size threshold from "seven thousand (7,000)" square feet to "six thousand five hundred (6,500)" square feet before introducing the ordinance as amended. The HRQLC (Historic, Residential, Quality of Life Committee) had recommended approval prior to the council action.
The amendment to the numeric threshold was moved by Councilmember Joshua "Josh" Moran and seconded by Councilmember Gillis McCloskey; the minutes record a unanimous recorded vote on the amendment and the introduction as amended.
