Resident alleges closed meetings, urges charter transparency reforms

"Our current county system is facing a breakdown in public transparency, access, and accountability," Gohee said, and she added that her formal letter of concern had been omitted from the written-comment section of the commission's agenda. She asked the commission to "address why citizens correspondence regarding legal compliance is being left off the official agenda and ensure it is verbally noted for tonight's record," and urged the commission to consider charter amendments to provide "stronger legally binding transparency metrics and robust citizen oversight."
Under the commission's public-comment rules announced at the meeting, commissioners did not engage in discussion during the comment period. Chair Erickson and staff thanked the speaker and the meeting proceeded to the single business item on the agenda.
