Council and staff reviewed planning progress for Casa Conejo Day, covering permits, vendor recruitment, sponsorships and public-safety participation. District Representative Israel Rodriguez said fire and sheriff’s personnel are on board and that CHP planned a bike-safety course aimed at ebike and youth safety.
Council Member Scott Horn described the Arroyo Conejo Creek Walk (planned to meet at the gate of Wendy and Gerald and walk to the Borchard wetland and back) and noted an academic leader will help guide part of the walk. Chair Brendon Garcia said many previous vendors plan to return and that organizers are working to bring a farmers market to the site; the event is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 2 (time to be confirmed). Wendy Zimmerman asked that the creek-walk departure announcement be made “abundantly clear” after participants missed the start last year.
The council discussed signage, vendor logistics and outreach to local businesses; staff will continue permitting and vendor coordination ahead of the event.
