The Casa Conejo Municipal Advisory Council voted to form an Ad Hoc Committee charged with evaluating pedestrian-safety improvements near Walnut Elementary School. Chair Brendon Garcia moved the motion, which was seconded by Council Member Debbie Hannah and carried unanimously.
Council members stressed the need to coordinate with county departments and partner agencies before any engineering changes. Vice Chair Rob Alvidrez said he would invite a Ventura County Sheriff’s sergeant to speak about establishing a Neighborhood Watch and noted the challenge of recruiting volunteers for roughly 900 homes in Casa Conejo. The council did not set a timeline for specific construction work; the committee will assess options and report back to the MAC.
The action reflects the council’s 2026 priorities, which also include neighborhood watch formation, public health and safety, and public works coordination. Further updates are expected at future MAC meetings once staff and county partners provide options and feasibility assessments.
