Supervisor Jeff Gorell’s office provided a public update to the Casa Conejo MAC on two county matters: fentanyl‑related overdose statistics and recovery from the recent Mountain Fire.
According to the report shared with the Council, "48% of overdose deaths in Thousand Oaks were due to fentanyl." The office also described the Mountain Fire, which staff said "ravaged through the district destroying over 100 homes," and outlined recovery support. A Local Assistance Center has been established at the Ventura County Office of Education building, 5100 Adolfo Road in Camarillo, open 9 a.m.–7 p.m. (closed Sunday), offering tax relief, employment help, vital records and property assessments, public assistance and crisis intervention, and basic health care services. Ventura County Animal Shelter staff also assisted by sheltering animals displaced by the fire.
Councilmembers thanked the office for the information and for ongoing support to fire victims. Residents were referred to the Local Assistance Center for available services.
