Energy Safety proposes extending management self-assessments to some smaller utilities

Lauren (Energy Safety) proposed applying the management self-assessment element, historically limited to the three large electrical corporations, to small multi-jurisdictional utilities now that those utilities have several years of SCA experience. "We are proposing to add that element to the SMJUs," she said, noting it was not initially applied because there was not enough baseline for assessment in 2021.
Utility presenters acknowledged the value of management self-assessments but warned against a uniform approach. Elizabeth Peters (SDG&E) said there is "no one size fits all" and urged qualitative alignment with workforce surveys and other inputs rather than forcing identical metrics across different companies and service territories.
