Commission notes plat approval for 'Barksdale Middle School' site
Summary
Staff reported that Northwest ISD’s new middle school site — Barksdale Middle School — is nearly complete and lies on a nearly 150-acre plat south of Mulkey Lane; staff said a future high school site is planned on the same larger parcel and that drainage easements will require replatting before the high school is built.

Staff told commissioners that a nearly 150-acre plat for Northwest ISD’s new middle school has been approved since the last meeting and that construction of Barksdale Middle School is nearly complete. The plat also includes a reserved area on the east side of the parcel intended for a future high school, but staff said that drainage easements on much of that portion will require additional study and a replat before a high school can be built.
“We just have one plat to report on being approved since the last meeting… It’s Barksdale Middle School. It’s under construction and really nearly complete,” the staff member said. Staff pointed to fire-lane and utility easements around the middle-school site and said future development of the high-school side will depend on resolving drainage easement constraints. Commissioners asked timing questions for the high school; staff replied the high-school timing is not yet set and it was not in the most recent bond approvals.
