The Beautification Committee reported action on the Village Center entrance sign: two Callery pear trees that flanked the sign were removed on May 26, and committee members planted more than 75 native plants around the sign on May 30 as part of a revitalization effort.
Members said they are monitoring establishment of the bed and will hold off on publicity about the Callery pear removal until the planting is well established. The project is part of continuing efforts to replace nonnative or problematic species with native plantings at village entrances.
