The city council continued a public hearing on whether the City of Southgate should participate in the California Statewide Communities Development Authority’s Community Infrastructure Program until the Aug. 11, 2026 meeting.
Staff said a developer who would be able to answer questions about the proposal was not present and requested a continuance. City Attorney Salinas said the hearing should not be opened for public comment without the developer present so the proponent would have the benefit of public comment. Council motioned and approved the continuance to August 11, 2026.
No formal action on joining the program was taken at the July 28 meeting; staff and the developer are expected to return on the date of the continued hearing.
