Superintendent updates board on Senate Bill 141 committees and recommended supports

Superintendent Wayne Gallagher updated the board on the district’s work related to Senate Bill 141 (Education Accountability Act). Gallagher said more than 60 district staff participated in committees that reviewed six accountability areas: K–2 attendance, third-grade reading, eighth-grade math, ninth-grade on-track, four-year graduation rate and five-year completers.
Committees examined district data and drafted recommendations that include improving attendance supports, strengthening instructional alignment across grades, expanding credit recovery options and maintaining GED/NCRC testing opportunities. Gallagher said committee implementation plans will be presented to the board in May and are expected to be finalized when the board adopts the budget in June.
