County leadership used the close of the ECC briefing to announce that Director Cassandra Onley will retire after decades of service, with an effective date reported as Dec. 1. Darren Frank told the committee: "Director Onley is retiring after decades of service" and added that Onley will help with a transition runway and assist in hiring her successor.
Council members and staff thanked Onley for her service and emphasized that her departure will require careful succession planning because of her deep institutional knowledge. The committee said it expects staff to bring a staffing-update package and transition plan in December before Onley's departure.
