Staff: small ARPA repayment required; transient lodging tax could reduce deficit

Nicole reported the town must return $2,354 of American Rescue Plan Act funds and is awaiting Treasury instructions on how to remit that payment after filing the annual report. "I just submitted our annual report... I'm awaiting instructions from the treasury how to return those funds," she said.
She also told the committee she is continuing to review transient lodging tax (TLT) receipts and eligibility with county and regional partners; she estimated that clarifying TLT eligibility could reduce the general-fund deficit by roughly $7,800 in the draft budget if the revenue is confirmed. Staff said they will follow up with county partners and report any confirmed changes for inclusion in the final budget packet.
