Coquille School Board unanimously approves South Coast ESD Local Service Plan

The Coquille School District Board of Directors voted unanimously Jan. 14 to approve the South Coast Education Service District Local Service Plan following a brief presentation by South Coast ESD Superintendent Paul Peterson.
Peterson told the board the plan is largely unchanged from the prior year and was reviewed and approved by the ten district superintendents on Nov. 20 and unanimously approved by the South Coast ESD Board on Dec. 9. "Approximately 95% of resolution funds are allocated to Tier 2 services," Peterson said, with the remaining roughly 5% supporting Tier 1 core services such as homeschool registration, psychological testing, birth‑to‑three evaluations and Safe Schools programming.
Board member Steve Britton moved approval and Marsha Frost seconded; the motion carried with aye votes recorded for Melinda Millet, Marsha Frost, Lucas Taylor, Kayla Pritchett, Sharon Nelson and Steve Britton. The approval authorizes the district to continue selecting Tier 2 offerings from the ESD’s menu based on local needs.
The board recorded no questions about the LSP during the meeting. The approval will allow Coquille SD 8 to access ESD resolution funds under the plan’s current structure for the coming year.
