The Mount Holly Select Board voted on Jan. 22 to place a proposal to eliminate the Town Auditor positions on the Town Meeting warning and to consider appointing a Town Report Committee in their place. Carol Garrow-Woolley told the board that Town Auditors currently prepare the town report while professional audit firms perform the audit function; board members noted that elimination of the positions must be approved by voters at Town Meeting and, if approved, would not take effect until the following year.
Mark Turco moved to place the auditor-elimination measure on the Town Warning; Diana Garrow seconded and the motion carried unanimously. After reading the text of the Town Meeting Warning, the board voted to accept the warning as written, with Mark Turco and Diana Garrow recorded as the motion mover and seconder. The board said details such as whether committee members would be paid could be decided if and when the change is adopted by voters.
