Treasurer reports $60,000 paving-grant receipt, presents 2025 draft audit for acceptance

Town Treasurer Elizabeth Karle told the Select Board that January activity was limited but the town has received $60,000 of the paving grant for Hortonville Road and expects the remaining $120,000 before the end of February.
Karle also reported that the 2025 draft audit has been submitted and asked the board to accept it; she noted the report arrived too late for inclusion in the Town Report and said she will explore wider distribution including an electronic copy on the town website and a March Chit Chat notice. For 2026, she said changes in auditing standards require more front-loading by firms, including an engagement letter and down payment. Karle recommended engaging RHR Smith for the 2026 audit process because few other firms are available.
On grant reimbursements, Karle said the Aquatic Nuisance control grant reimbursement had been received and most funds will be forwarded to the Ninevah Foundation. The board had no objection to Karle’s distribution plan and accepted the draft audit for record.
