Commissioners raise concerns about 2,500 grazing AUMs at Red Creek

Commissioner Toman told the board that an estimated 2,500 animal-unit months of grazing at Red Creek were expected to be returned in the plan but were not included in the final document. Toman said the affected landowner, who lives out of state, had not been using the AUMs and was surprised to learn they were at risk of being lost.
Danielle and Eric said they were not certain the closure referenced at cooperator meetings mapped to the same area but noted the Department of Agriculture may be addressing closures tied to a special-plant exclosure. County staff suggested affected landowners may file protests if they become aware of changes and that the county could consider including that detail in its appeal support materials.
