School requests Pilgrim Park pathway; district to include funding in referendum

Trustee Schindler reported that school officials and district staff visited Pilgrim Park to discuss a proposed pathway from the middle‑school north driveway to Gebhardt Road. Participants in the site visit included the School Principal, the Facilities Manager, District Financial Director Mark Hansen, and District Supervisor Wes Sylla. Trustee Schindler said the district has moved away from a crosswalk solution in favor of a pathway, which the Police Chief also supports.
Trustee Schindler said the school intends to include funding for the pathway in an upcoming referendum. Staff indicated a preliminary cost estimate could be prepared using recent curb‑and‑gutter construction pricing on Underwood River Parkway and noted the right‑of‑way appears to be approximately 11 feet, which may require curb‑and‑gutter design similar to adjacent residential frontage. The Ad‑hoc Pathway Committee was asked to reconvene to discuss future pathway projects and next steps.
