The NICE Community School District Board of Education voted to enter closed session under section 8(a) of the Open Meetings Act on Oct. 21 to consider the periodic evaluation of the superintendent. The board entered closed session at 6:29 p.m. and returned to open session at 6:58 p.m.
After returning to open session, the board moved to give an "effective" rating for the superintendent; the motion was recorded as carried in the meeting minutes. The closed-session purpose was explicitly recorded as a personnel matter consistent with the statutory exemption cited in the motion.
