Council advances clerk/treasurer appointment ordinance and adopts job description with amendments

CM Dan Thomas voted no; CM Mike Hale, CM Reid Smith, CM Dave Tysz, CM Margie Jaeger and CM Pete Martin voted yes, and the motion carried.
Separately, CM Martin moved to approve a clerk/treasurer job description with the exception of making IIMC certification recommended rather than required; CM Jaeger seconded. The council recorded one no vote (CM Hale) and one abstention (CM Thomas). CM Smith, CM Tysz, CM Jaeger, CM Martin and CM Ausmus voted yes and the motion carried.
Mayor Schulz clarified the hiring process during the discussion, and CM Ausmus asked for updates on current steps in the recruitment process. The council also agreed to move the next regular meeting to Jan. 13, 2026.
The council did not adopt a final ordinance text at this meeting; it advanced selected terms for formal ordinance drafting and future consideration.
