Representatives from Oak Ridge Fire & EMS presented their monthly report to the Westford City Council on March 2, detailing call volume, response times and equipment status.
The presenter (voice 5) reported 118 calls for the month, with an average response time of 7 minutes 49 seconds—within the county standard of under 10 minutes—and a transport rate of about 85 percent. The department logged 14 hours of personnel training and 705 volunteer stipend hours.
The presenter noted that a new medic unit will not be service‑ready until around April 26 due to required installations and OHA licensing, and that staff are pursuing wildland certification. New radio systems were added and Oak Ridge stations maintain engines, ambulances, tenders and brush units. The report included operational details for Hazeldale station and a three‑month grant extension for rural address signage.
Councilors asked for township‑level breakdowns and discussed the possibility of smoke‑alarm installations and addressing limited water supply for firefighting; the presenter said the department is exploring strategic water‑supply tank placement and a Type‑6 engine and command vehicle purchase.
