The board approved Change Order No. 1 for the 2024 County Road 1 Frost Heaves project in the amount of $250,000 to address frost-heave damage and restore the road.
Public Works Director Gene Ligurski explained the request: $100,000 was promised by Williams (with another $100,000 hoped for in January), and the county would cover the remaining $50,000 from fuel tax. "We felt like we could do some stuff with our crews and with Lewis to improve that first 2.3 miles of road," Ligurski said. Commissioners moved and approved the change order unanimously.
