Commissioners approve $164,555 capital amendment to buy wheel loader for events complex

The Sweetwater County Board of County Commissioners voted 4–1 on Dec. 3 to approve Resolution 24-12-CL-01, a capital budget amendment of $164,555 to purchase a wheel loader for the county events complex. Accounting specialist Rebecca Romero told the board the purchase would come from capital fund reserves and was presented as a buy rather than a lease.
"This budget amendment is for the wheel loader for the events complex that she come and spoke to you about last week. It is to purchase and not a lease, and this would come out of our capital fund reserves," Romero said. The chair opened and closed the required public hearing after there were no attendees wishing to speak.
Commissioner Richards moved to approve the amendment and Commissioner Toman seconded. One commissioner stated during discussion that they would vote against the measure because they preferred capital-committee review of such purchases; the motion still passed 4–1. The amendment is recorded as Resolution 24-12-CL-01 and will be reflected in county capital accounts.
