Commissioners agree to allow water truck option while clarifying process for arena prep

Commissioners and staff agreed to make the county water truck an explicit option for arena prep this season, while clarifying availability and costs. A meeting participant argued that a water truck provides “consistency of the water on the ground” and can accomplish the job “in 20 minutes or less,” and commissioners said that improved notice and calendar coordination are necessary for the operator to attend scheduled events.

The chair said the clerk’s office should add a field to the facility application to indicate whether applicants request the water truck, a hose, or sprinklers so the road department and buildings & grounds can be alerted. The group also discussed charging fees or requiring prepayment for water-truck service and exploring sponsorship or in-kind support to offset overtime and equipment costs. Participants emphasized confirming the operator’s availability for imminent events such as the junior rodeo on Aug. 10.
