Public Works Director Darin Thiele told the council the vendor quoted $162,305 for 509 meters and an additional $64,895 to perform installation, including radio‑read technology and related paperwork. Thiele said the vendor could complete installation in a week or two and would handle scheduling and paperwork.
Mayor Pat Raffety said funding would be secured from the water fund and observed that replacing aging meters (dating from early 1980s to 2005) could reduce unbilled water losses and possibly increase revenue. "The quote for 509 meters is $162,305, while the installation quote is $64,895," Thiele said. John Weyh moved and Mike Hanson seconded calling for bids for meters and installation; the motion passed 5‑0.
