The city recorder Nicole told the Westfir City Council the review of the water and sewer policy — usually addressed at a work session — will include proposed rate adjustments for July 2026. She said the sample rate schedule proposes raising the water base from $58 to $60 and monthly sewer from $63 to $66, with commercial water rates moving from $68 to $74.
Nicole emphasized that the council will not vote on the change at the May 4 meeting because state-mandated public notice and comment requirements apply; the council expects to vote on the resolution to adopt the rate schedule at its June 1 meeting. Councilors discussed prior budget meetings and noted the rate change had been considered during budgeting.
Staff will publish public-comment materials and hold the required comment period before the June vote.
