The Westfir City Council voted May 4 to approve a fire-protection intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with the city of Belgrade for fiscal years 2026 and 2027.
A councilor moved to approve the fire protection services IGA and another councilor seconded the motion. Mayor Watson and the present councilors voted in favor and the motion carried. The council approved the agreement without amendment.
During the meeting the council also discussed operational details raised in the fire chief's report — including equipment maintenance and mutual-aid support — and asked staff for follow-up to clarify how Westfir will meet response and equipment needs under the IGA.
