Community development staff said the current grant award to the city totals about $167,000 and staff is pursuing alternate grants, business subsidies or private‑fund options to cover the remaining difference. "The bids did come in over what we were awarded per grant funding to pay for this project… it's about a $50,000 difference," staff said.
Councilors expressed support for small‑business retention and noted the importance of expediting gap‑funding decisions so the project can proceed. Council adopted the resolution to award the bid to KGM with the recognition that staff will continue to seek additional funding and work with the adjacent property owner on any additional costs.
