Miracle League seeks county land at Jamestown County Park for accessible field; commissioners ask for formal plan

Donna Tramp, chair of the Miracle League of Sweetwater County, presented a plan to develop an accessible Miracle League field and supporting facilities at Jamestown County Park.
Tramp described a phased approach: initial turf field and ADA restrooms/playground, later a covered stadium and expanded community use. She said the estimated cost for a covered facility could range from about $3 million to $5 million based on other Miracle League projects and noted the nonprofit has engaged an architect to develop conceptual plans. "We want to secure a property so we can move forward," Tramp said, asking the board to consider a lease or other permanent utilization of county parkland.
Commissioners praised the idea as a valuable community amenity and noted it could better utilize underused parkland. They also raised operational questions about maintenance, utilities, liability and long-term replacement costs for turf and facilities. The board asked the Miracle League to provide a formal proposal including funding commitments, operations and maintenance plans, and an architect'provided rendering before the county would consider a permanent lease or dedication of parkland.
