The Milbank City Council authorized a notice for bids for the Runway 13 Turnaround Reconstruction at a special session on March 28, 2025.
Councilman Josh Karels moved to authorize the notice for bids and Councilman Craig Weinberg seconded. Administrator Steve Pendergrass told the council that the city’s portion of the estimated $950,000 project is 2.5%. The motion carried, recorded as 4-0 in favor.
Mayor Pat Raffety presided over the session, which was held at the Milbank Visitor Center with Council members Mindy Rogers, Mike Hanson and Councilman Craig Weinberg participating (Weinberg via Zoom); Council members Roger Briggs and John Weyh were absent. Finance Officer Cynthia Schumacher was listed as staff present.
City staff noted that construction bids must be approved by the application deadline of April 25, 2025. The authorization directs staff to proceed with publicly noticing the bid opportunity and with next steps in the procurement process. No amendments or alternate funding splits were recorded in the session minutes.
The council adjourned at 12:05 p.m.; the minutes list upcoming regular meetings on February 10 and April 14, 2025.
