Board ratifies $80,715 transfer of Transwest impact funds to replace detention radios

Under Sheriff Joe Tomich asked the board to ratify a transfer of Transwest industrial siting funds to pay for capital replacement of portable radios in the county detention center. Tomich said much of the detention center's radio stock was decades old and some units are no longer repairable; the sheriff's office has ordered 30 new portable radios, chargers and accessories with an expenditure of $80,715.17.
"...we would like to do is...we're just seeking this ratification today to expend $80,715.17 to replace 30 portable radios and chargers and accessories within the detention center," Tomich told the board. Commissioners discussed funding rules and were told Transwest funds were allocated under an earlier system with no reporting requirements; the board unanimously ratified the transfer and the purchase.
