Board approves Public Safety Impact Fund amendment to shift payroll dollars into capital

Sweetwater County commissioners voted unanimously Oct. 15 to approve a budget amendment moving funds within the Public Safety Impact Fund so payroll allocations are reduced and capital spending is increased.
"So today's budget amendment that I'm requesting is to transfer, within the impact budget. So we're gonna decrease payroll and increase capital, and this will not affect the general fund reserves in any way," said Rebecca Romero, the county accounting specialist, outlining the purpose of Resolution 25‑10‑C‑01. The amendment was presented during a public hearing; no members of the public spoke for or against it. Commissioner Richards moved approval; the board approved the resolution by voice vote.
County staff said the transfer is limited to the impact budget and will be followed later in the agenda by formal action to implement the change. Romero also noted the request came at the direction of grants manager Christina Marshall. The board took no separate action beyond the approval of the resolution, and the amendment does not create new ongoing operating obligations.
