District weighs contract changes, explores new student and financial systems

Staff (S2) told the board the district is reviewing several contracts to reduce costs and improve functionality, saying the administration is trying to negotiate out of a Forecast5 contract and is evaluating a touchpoint point-of-sale and events platform that could replace several existing systems. "We're trying to see if we can negotiate out of these other contracts or we just rip off the band aid," S2 said.
The board also discussed removing Naviance and adopting Oregon Career Information Systems for career planning. Trustees raised concern about proprietary systems and vendor costs; S2 repeated that a bid to replace the district's Johnson Controls equipment came in around $500,000 and that the district continues to evaluate options and procurement terms.
