Developer previews large family-entertainment center and driving range; project continued for design refinements

Tony Winkler presented a proposal for a family entertainment center and event hall that would include a multi-bay driving range, childrens play areas, and several food-and-beverage concepts. Winkler said the initial pole height for the driving-range nets is planned near 150 feet though earlier engineering allowances had been as high as 200 feet.
ARB staff asked for architectural articulation along the east facade that faces Goliad Street and suggested adding windows or tower elements to break up long, blank walls. Winkler said he would work with architects to add depth and fenestration and return with detailed drawings. The commission did not take a final vote and the application was continued to the Aug. 11 meeting with ARB feedback noted for the resubmittal.
