Board notes progress on SEL training but flags measurement gaps for climate goals
Summary

Staff member (S2) told the board the district is "very close to 100% of staff trained in SEL strategies" and that the district saw reductions in reported bullying incidents, from eight reports in 2023 24 to two reported incidents in 2024 25.
Trustees said the YouthTruth survey does not ask the specific questions needed to measure whether students can identify a trusted adult; S2 agreed and proposed developing a district survey with targeted questions. S2 also said the ESD discontinued funding for DESA, requiring the district to modify or eliminate the related strategic goal. The board directed staff to draft revised language for goals tied to available tools and funding.
