The Rockwall Planning and Zoning Commission voted to approve Z2026-034, a special-use permit to allow a detached garage at 2368 Saddle Brook Lane.
Bethany, a city planner, told commissioners the project had previously been recommended for approval with a condition requiring a stone front facade; the applicant then asked to change the building size and materials. The applicant said he had reverted from a pre-engineered steel building to a traditional stick-frame design reduced to about 1,000 square feet and that the front will include a buff-colored stone wainscot to match surrounding properties. “So we're going back to traditional construction… stick frame thousand square feet,” the homeowner said during the hearing.
Commissioner Roth moved to approve the SUP and the motion was seconded and carried 6–1, with Commissioner Conway recorded as absent. The commissions approval remands the question of final elevations to staff and confirms the stone wainscot requirement discussed earlier in the packet.
