Commission approves addition of a part-time position for the district attorney's office

The commission approved a request from the district attorney's office to add a part-time position to the permanent staffing table to assist with records management related to the office's records management system transition.
Mark Bennett explained the position is for a long-time retired employee who has returned to provide institutional experience for about 8 to 10 hours per pay period and that the county would not incur benefit costs beyond salary and taxes. "This is somebody who has who worked for us for about over 30 years," Bennett said, describing the efficiency and continuity benefits to the DA's office.
Chairman Beatty said there is sufficient budget authority for 2024 and 2025 and that the item did not require additional budget authority. Commissioner Dennis and other commissioners expressed support while noting the county's overall structural budget challenges; the motion passed by roll call (all aye).
