Commission approves participation in national opioid remnant-defendant settlement

The Daggett County Commission voted to approve an agreement to participate in the national opioid "6 remnant defendant" settlement. Committee member (S3) moved to approve and Chair (S1) seconded; commissioners indicated assent in open session.
Agency official (S4) explained the paperwork covers the final six defendants who had been in bankruptcy and that the participation form is the same used in earlier settlement agreements handled by the county's settlement counsel. "It's the same form and the same contents of the other settlement agreements that we've had," S4 said, and recommended that the commission authorize the signature so the county may collect its share of settlement funds when available.
S4 said these last defendants required separate handling because of bankruptcy proceedings but that the county's counsel and settlement firm had managed prior agreements and recommended moving forward. The commission approved the recommendation by motion and recorded affirmative votes in open session.
