County project staff reported that clinic construction is progressing but not finished, and commissioners discussed timing and publicity options for opening the facility.
"They're going moving along, but 73 percent completion is the last I improvement I heard," said Randy, the project representative who provided the construction update. Staff and commissioners discussed using a soft opening and then scheduling a ribbon cutting to ensure the building is ready for public use before holding a formal ceremony.
Commission members noted interest from the governor's office of economic development in inviting either the governor or lieutenant governor for a grand-opening event, but staff cautioned against guaranteeing a date until punch-list items are completed. Commissioners suggested a conservative approach: open for service once ready and schedule a later formal ribbon cutting. The commission did not set a date during the meeting, and one member said some board meetings might be held in the new building once it is open.
