"So the new water treatment facility is operational," said Trevor Brixby, identified in the record as a Dutch John water system representative, adding that staff are still working through "automation hiccups" and a few fabrication adjustments. Brixby said the plant has been running manually and that all processed water currently goes to waste until the operating permit is issued.
Commissioners asked about remaining steps and the timeline for repurposing the old structure once the new facility is proven operational. Brixby said crews will correct minor grading and weld‑ring issues this week and that the project will move into successive phases once the permit is granted. The commission did not take a formal vote on the project during the session.
Next steps: the state inspection is scheduled for the following day and staff said they will pursue final checklist items, complete phase‑2 work, and then begin the process to repurpose the old facility once the new plant is fully certified.
