Council highlights back-to-school donation drives and local events

Council members used their reports at the July 27 meeting to promote several back-to-school donation and distribution events. Council member Michael Mills highlighted two August 1 efforts — a Katy Police Department ‘Operation Backpack’ at Cottage Charm and a Foster Village Houston event — and encouraged residents to donate through organizers’ social channels.
"If you are in the city and you're looking to donate, check out their social media because then you can, buy things for their, Amazon wish list to fulfill those needs," Mills said, pointing residents to online donation options. Other council members mentioned recent community openings, including a Goodwill grand opening and an Amber's Jewelry celebration, and reminded residents about parks programming and a Woodland Park 'summer send-off' on August 7.
