Chief Robert Evans presented the Police Department's October 2024 report at the Nov. 18 meeting, noting 710 calls for service, four reportable accidents, 20 non‑reportable accidents, 11 criminal investigations, two arrests, 82 traffic citations and three non‑traffic citations.
Chief Evans said the department received CPR and First Aid recertification training on Oct. 23, credited Bally Community Ambulance for conducting the training, and noted recruiting steps including interviews of five applicants. The department participated in a DEA Drug Take Back on Oct. 26 and collected 44 pounds of unwanted or expired medications at the station. He also reported community outreach at Trinity Church for the Trunk-or-Treat event and additional officer training: Officer Sedgwick completed a National Child Seat Certification course.
Ms. Carpenter asked whether anything unusual occurred in October; Chief Evans said higher-than-normal non-reportable accidents appeared linked to distracted driving. The board accepted the Police Department report by unanimous vote.
