Douglass Township's Board of Supervisors voted Nov. 18 to authorize a budgeted purchase of a Western Star chassis for Public Works at a cost of $121,666.48. Roadmaster Michael Heydt told the board the chassis available on the lot was $5,000 less than the model he had planned to order.
"The chassis is on the lot for $5,000 less than the truck he was going to order, apparently a white truck is cheaper than a red truck," Mr. Heydt said. No member of the board objected, and the motion passed unanimously.
The chassis purchase is budgeted and intended to support winter maintenance and other roadwork operations. The board also accepted the Public Works report detailing recent paving of Hoffmansville and Grosser Roads and seasonal preparation of equipment for winter.
