The Okmulgee Board of Education presented a commemorative plaque to Board President Mike James during its March 10, 2026 regular meeting, recognizing his 15 years of service. Superintendent LuVona Copeland made the presentation; the minutes note this was James’s final meeting as a board member.
Robert McIntire, an 8th-grade Dunbar student, led the Pledge of Allegiance to open the meeting, and LaVerne McKee, the board minutes clerk, called roll and confirmed a quorum with five members present. The board then proceeded through routine business items and votes recorded in the minutes. The board did not record any immediate appointment or successor to James at the meeting, and Copeland also noted that band director Heath Miller was unable to attend the ceremony.
