Council will accept Mammoth Water agreement for now, plans negotiations before renewal

Councilors said the contract is with the association, not individual residents, so changes to how members are charged are ultimately a Mammoth internal matter, but the council agreed to open negotiations prior to the contract renewal rather than allow an unplanned expiration.
"For now where we've got a new council, we just approve it as is, and then we do start kind of looking at if we wanna change it," a council speaker said. Members asked staff to bring contract amendments for consideration and to engage legal counsel and Mammoth representatives well before the next renewal period so any new rate or usage rules can be negotiated fairly.
