County staff propose revisions to event sponsorship template to handle multiyear deals

County staff presented proposed revisions to the Columbia County event sponsorship and advertising agreement template to address multiyear sponsorships and provide county protections for early exits by sponsors.
"Originally, when we developed this template, most of our agreements were for community events, and they were single year agreements," a staff member said, explaining that the Performing Arts Center now commonly uses multiyear sponsorships and the template needs stronger exit language to protect the county.
Staff recommended approval of the updated template; a committee member moved the item to consent and it was approved without further alterations. The county said hotel/motel funds will be used for event rentals where applicable under separate items discussed later in the meeting.
