Commission tables final allocation of porta-potty sale proceeds pending contract review
Summary
The commission debated allocating proceeds from surplused porta potties to the county events budget, then amended the motion so any allocation is contingent on review of the original grant/contract terms; staff will check the original agreement before funds are committed.

Daggett County commissioners discussed how to use funds generated by surplusing porta potties originally purchased for events. Committee member (S2) proposed placing the proceeds into the county events budget earmarked for porta-potty rentals for county-run or county-sponsored events so the funds could be spread across multiple events.
During the discussion, commissioners noted the porta potties had been purchased under grant funding and raised concerns about whether the original grant terms allow reallocation. One commissioner said, “I think the best place to start with that is go back to the original agreement and see what it says,” and the commission agreed to make any funding allocation contingent on review of that original contract or grant document. The initial motion was retracted and restated as an amended motion contingent upon administrative review. The amended motion carried by voice vote.
Staff were directed to locate the original grant/contract paperwork and report back to ensure the county can legally retain and reassign the surplus proceeds before finalizing any allocation.
