County pursues wetland mitigation for Highway 43 bike path; Army Corps submission planned

County staff reported that materials for the Highway 43 bike path have been submitted to the state Division of Water Quality to start the required 100-day process. "I've submitted the stuff to division of water quality to get their hundred day process started," staff member Brett Reynolds said, indicating the county is pursuing permitting steps required for the project.
Reynolds said a plan was developed to propose the Manila old sewer lagoons to the city and then submit the site to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a potential wetland mitigation site. "We're gonna submit that to the army corps as a potential wetland mitigation site," he said, adding that Corps approval would allow the project to proceed and that a denial would require the county to look for alternate mitigation sites.
