Commissioners clarified that the 40 hours referenced are per month and that pay for strike-force duty will be handled as a separate stipend or paycheck so it does not affect regular payroll accounting. One commissioner noted that the county will contribute to transportation and gas costs while the strike force provides operational support.
Commissioners also discussed a budgetary line referenced in the meeting packet. As one member noted, “They have a couple of undercover vehicles that some of that $17,000, some very small portion for gas and usage like that,” reflecting that participating agencies will share certain operational costs. The motion to approve participation passed by voice vote.
The approval authorizes staff to complete the interlocal paperwork and implement electronic signature processes so the sheriff’s office can begin coordinated operations with the regional strike force, subject to any final administrative details discussed by staff.
