Fire chief reports 62 calls in June; equipment upgrades and station work underway

Fire Chief Ferguson provided the department operations report noting 62 calls in June. He recognized Pete Stern for 30 years of service and Jay Morse for 18 years. Chief Ferguson said Station 1 renovations will resume the following week and a preconstruction meeting took place for a new ambulance to be housed in Empire. Construction on a mini pumper has begun and construction of a ladder truck will start soon.
Chief Ferguson also reported the Station 1 open house is scheduled for July 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; new heart monitors are installed on the ambulances; a new turnout gear washer and dryer and an SCBA equipment washer have been installed, with the SCBA washer described as the first in the area.
